Haruomi Hosono - Harry Hosono & Tin Pan Alley in Chinatown

Tin Pan Alley’s legendary Chinatown Live finally arrives on LP, sourced from a stereo master tape rediscovered 50 years after the original performance. Recorded on May 8th, 1976 at Yokohama Chinatown’s Dohatsu Shinkan restaurant, the set captures Haruomi Hosono and company in an intimate live setting at the height of their powers.

For this edition, engineer Goh Hotoda has created a new mix and mastering from the newly uncovered stereo tapes, restoring the depth, detail and atmosphere of the original performance. The result brings the room vividly back to life, preserving both the warmth of the venue and the looseness of the band’s playing.

Long regarded as a sought-after document of Japanese music history, Chinatown Live now receives its first-ever LP release alongside a special Chinatown pop-up event celebrating the album’s arrival.
